Information and Resources for Under-18s
Thank you for reaching out to RareCan. Based on the date of birth entered, it looks like you are seeking information, genomic testing, or trial support for a child or young person under 18.
Why RareCan’s services are currently for adults only At this time, RareCan’s services are exclusively designed for adult patients (18+).
Genomic Testing: The biology of childhood cancers is fundamentally different from adult cancers. Because of this, our specialised adult genomic tests will not provide accurate or medically helpful information for a child, and we cannot process samples for patients under 18.
Clinical Trial Support: The clinical trial landscape for paediatric oncology is managed differently than adult oncology. Our trial databases and support services are currently focused strictly on adult trials.
If you made an error on the form and the patient is over 18, please navigate back to the form and try again.
Where to find the right support
Paediatric oncology is a highly specialised field, and there are dedicated organisations in the UK that provide exceptional guidance, genomic testing information, and support for families.
We strongly recommend speaking with your child’s NHS Paediatric Oncologist, as comprehensive genomic testing for children with cancer is often provided directly through the NHS Genomic Medicine Service.
