Insight PCB
Precision genomic profiling of colorectal cancers from blood
Thank you for choosing Insight PCB
Our specialised liquid biopsy genomic test for colorectal cancer patients.
Insight PCB is a clinically supervised somatic genomic analysis from a blood sample. It is designed specifically to aid decision making in colorectal cancer. It is focused on the BRAF and MAPK/ERK pathways, offering comprehensive coverage of RAS and RAF drivers, alongside essential tumour suppressors, mismatch repair (MMR) genes, and actionable fusions.
The test includes:
- Venous blood collection kits
- Blood sample collection and shipping
- Next generation sequencing (NGS) and analysis
- College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited reporting of genetic alterations
- A report on treatment and clinical trial options relevant to the UK
- A ‘plain English’ summary of the report
The CAP accredited clinical report includes:
- Single Nucleotide Variants (SNVs) & Insertion-Deletions (Indels) (31 genes)
- Copy Number Variations (CNVs) (12 genes)
- Fusions (9 genes)
- Tumour Mutation Burden (TMB)
- Microsatellite Instability (MSI)
In addition the report includes:
- Tumour Fraction (TFx) estimate

Once we receive your test booking form and payment, the next steps are:
- Step 1
You will receive an email confirming the test booking and payment. This email will also contain information about the next steps, a link to the NEXUS system through which you will be able to book an appointment at a Randox Health Clinic to have your blood samples taken, and details of who to contact if you need any support with this Insight test.
- Step 2
We will dispatch two venous blood collection kits to the address you provide when making the payment (shipping address). These kits will be delivered by Royal Mail Tracked and will not required to be signed for.
- Step 3
You will need to take the venous blood collection kits to the clinic. Once the blood samples have been taken, the clinic will send them on to the laboratory for sequencing and analysis.
- Step 4
We will email you to confirm successful blood collection, receipt of sample at the laboratory, and to update you on progress with analysis and reporting.
- Step 5
We will contact you as your report is nearing completion, to arrange a time to discuss the results of your test.
- Step 6
Your completed report will be shared with you and your oncologist by email. If needed we can arrange a consultation with an oncologist with expertise in interpreting genetic reports.
Regulatory information
- RareCan Insight genomic tests are registered with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) as Class 1 in vitro diagnostic medical devices.
- They are intended for use by healthcare professionals for the qualitative identification of specific somatic variants in circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) extracted from human whole blood or tumour DNA (tDNA) extracted from tumour tissue samples.
- The tests are intended to support clinicians in identifying potential clinical trials for which you may be eligible.
- The sample collection kits are intended for use by qualified phlebotomists and are not intended for patient self-testing or self-sampling.
- Results must be interpreted by a qualified healthcare professional in conjunction with your full clinical history, other diagnostic test results, and relevant clinical guidelines.
- The results are not intended to be used as the sole basis for treatment decisions, and further confirmatory testing may be required.
